Only Won – The Lyrical Engineer

Only Won will be a keynote speaker and performer at the national convention for Tau Beta Pi- The Engineering Society in San Diego. 

Only Won’s family documentary about his grandfather and the early Chinese in Mississippi won the best documentary “Hoka” award at the Oxford Film Festival. As a result of this prestigious win, Finding Cleveland will be broadcast on PBS in MS later this year. 

I ventured into new territory by producing my first film, Finding Cleveland. It’s a personal story of my family uncovering their roots in Mississippi and learning about the history of the Chinese in the Delta. It made its debut at the 168 Film Festival at the Regal Cinemas LA Live. It was surreal to see it on the big screen but a truly memorable moment. It was also nominated for best documentary short. We will be doing more screening across the country and  raising additional funds for a longer documentary. Watch the trailer and find out more at the official website 

   
 

I got a chance to perform with Larissa Lam for this great event at Staples Center. Unify LA was all about bringing together every race and standing together united for peace.  

 

My video “Dim Sum” was named Best Music Video by the Asians on Film Festival for the Fall Quarter of 2014. It has been selected to compete against other winning videos at the Asians on Film Festival in LA in March. What an honor!!!! Thanks again to my cast and crew for making this an award winning video. Here’s a couple red carpet interviews I did at the CAPE Holiday party. It was cool to be with fellow Asian American entertainers like Apl.de.ap from Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Hu, Ian Anthony Dale and more. Check these out.

Things don’t always go the way you plan. We tried to do a Christmas song video. One cast member didn’t behave. Watch what happened.
